5 § 3360 Victim’s Compensation Fund

​Victim’s compensation is available in Maine to any individual who suffers personal injury (bodily injury or psychological injury from the threat of bodily injury) as a result of certain crimes, including sex trafficking and aggravated sex trafficking, as well as assault, aggravated assault, stalking, criminal threatening, terrorizing, stalking, kidnapping, and criminal restraint, and it is available to an individual of a sexual assault, for whom no showing of personal injury is required. Victims must report the crime against them to law enforcement in order to be eligible for compensation, and the fund is a payer of last resort.
